ABS was not standard but it was available as an option.

You will have to look under the bonnet to see if there is an ABS unit which, IIRC, is in front of the offside front wheel. Is the car meant to have ABS? If it does u can soon see if the car has functioning ABS by finding a clear bit of road & braking hard to see if the wheels lock up or if an ABS system pulsates.

FWIW l know from that registration number that ur car was originally a Renault dealer is launch demonstrator when it was brand new, collected from a conference at Shugborough Hall.
