we are going to buy a car (not new ) around (54 plate) it will be used from time to time for our shop (delivering flowers) we have a van, but would like a mpv. looking at Renault Scenic, but would like to hear comments on others and on engine size/ diesel. Are the smaller petrol engines any good, 1.4 1.6 etc.all comments most welcome

we have a renault megane scenic and l love it its roomy enough for the kids in the back plenty of boot space and ours is a 1.6 auto.

The petrol engines are good, but the 1.5 diesel is better.
It is powerful enough for overtaking and motorway driving and you still get good fuel consumption from it, about 45-55 mpg depending on how and where its driven.

We have one on t plate low miles ours is 19tdi.you can just click the back seats out & u have a small van size car.
you just slide into the seats no bending down.Diesel with a turbo will go all day no trouble we tow a caravan twice a year very good miles to the gallon.A very comfortable ride,easy to park,can not think of anything bad about this car yet & we have had lots of cars in the past,all belts in the back r shoulder belts no lap ones.Oh & if its raining & u stop car the window wipers slow down to intermittent all by themselves. l would say go test drive one or two to see if u like it. good luck.

We have a 54 plate 1.6vvti. Had it from new, been pretty good really. The keyless entry has been a godsend, but try & avoid the soft touch dash controls that come with climate control equipped cars like mine, & instead go for the regular chunky dial controls with normal air con. My display packed up which s a bigger pain than you'd think.

We had a couple of sensors go in the engine, could have fixed them myself (for the sake of an hours work & a £40 sensor) but car was unde rwarranty. Other than that, the engines been fine. Ours has now hit 64000miles in three years.

It is fast enough, cruising at 80/90 is fine & refined, but overtaking can be a bit ''do or die'' when you're fully loaded.

Only thing I'd say is that the service intervals r too long, 20k on ours. when ours was running around 18 / 19k it ran like a bag of crud, poor starting & smoked like mad. Got it serviced & it was back to full health. So I'd suggest doing a service maybe every 12k instead rather than the 20k they advise, it is too long.

I'd have ought a diesel but the extra money swung me toward the petrol.

l have a 2.0 VVT Automatic Grand Scénic on an 06 plate, which has two extra seats which fold out of the boot. For a family like mine this car is the answer to everything.
A run to the dump? Fold two seats into the floor & take the other three out.
Kids bored? Tell them to count the birds they see through the glass roof!
Your bored? Stick ur foot down & watch embarassed Subaru Impreza owners while u leave them behind.

It really is a sensational car. Nothing has gone wrong with mine in the year & a half that I've had it. It is really comfortable & the 2.0 engine is really quick, the only downside is that l am averaging 25 MPG! But this is the largest engine in the Scénic range so l can not complain! If l were you, go for a 1.9 dCi diesel. It will have nearly as much power as mine, but will give more than 45 MPG.

The Scénic comes in four trim levels. Authentique, Expression, Dynamique & Privilège. Avoid the Authentique which does not even get a CD player as standard. If l were you, l would go for an Expression. Yes it is only second model up, but it still gets an automatic parking brake, AC, CD player, automatic headlights & wipers & electric windows all round, plus, it will be best value. In a moment of madness l actually specified every option in the book so mine has Beige leather heated seats & xenon headlamps, it is fantastic.

The Scénic will be the perfect companion for ur business. Ideally, then, look for a 1.9 dCi Expression.
