Asking for an aquaintence.He needs to know what gearbox is required for a 1991/1992 Renault 19 with an EJ6 engine.

l would install a American big block v8 in front of a ford top loader 4 speed transmission..of course the rear gear will need to be upgraded to a 9'' ford as well.there is really not much on a Renault we can use

On the top of his old gearbox you should find a metal identification plate, it is fixed to the gearbox by one of the bolts that holds the two halves of the casing together and is visible from under the bonnet.

The identification number will begin with the letters JB or JC followed by a number, either a 1 or a 3.

After that there should be three more numbers, so you should have something like JB1 015 for example.
