locked out of renault megane with keys inside and engine running...how do I open

If you have not got the spare key handy - a hammer l am afraid - unless you belong to the RAC or AA - they might be able to open it - but doubt it.

Call AA as soon as possible - or a local mechanic you trust. If worst comes to worst may have to break a window - messy but relatively inexpensive and at least it is done!

With a crowbar.

Did your car not come with a spare key? If not you will have to contact a Renault garage or Renault specialist garage who should be able to help.

RAC - l was in the cab with one showing them directions while my husband was in our towed car behind - and he said that he was called to sort this exact thing out once and told me the story. Definitely give them a go anyway.

How did you lock the door? The central locking should only work from the inside when the doors are all closed. Can you not use the spare key?

this is guna sound a bit crazy, but aparently if someone else has a spare key, and u ring them on ur mobile and get them to press the unlock button on their key, it should unlock ur car. make sure ur standing close to the door. iv seen it work on tv, mayb give it a go?

Just leave it running until the petrol runs out...obviously this is what you have done if you have time to put stupid questions like this on this page. Otherwise like the other suggestions, put a hammer or brick through the smallest window you have on the car to minimise damage and replacement costs !!

jeez lady.what a pickle your in!! theres not a kid in the car aswell is there? just trying to work out who locked it from the inside!!

seriously, we've all locked our keys in the car and the only way to get into is through a mechanic...i was lucky l was with 'green flag' so if your with them or the AA or RAC ring ASAP, if not just go throught the yellow pages and get a mobile mechanic of some sort, just ring around and explain problem..Good luck x

oh you poor thing!!! If you dont want to pay the cost of a mechanic, rac etc - find the local hoodies - l feel for them cos they have a bad rep - but they have got me in to my house before when ive locked myself out with out breaking a thing!!!
They maybe a little noisey, and rough - but they can provide valuble public services - we should think about harnessing that - and give them somehing to do!

Break the window - it is the cheapest and quickest option.

Some makes of cars are set up so that in the event of an accident all the doors unlock so that passengers can get out. In this case and with these makes, thumping the car in a certain place will have the same effect. It might be worth investigating.

Oh what a pickle! Wow id be gutted to smash the window, maybe call a mechanic? x
