and also it never starts in one go can anyone help ,i am realy getting fed up with this car.it seems every winter there is a new problem please help.

Have the timing and battery checked.

water and oil and change your plugs or just clean them
mines the same, last 2 yrs a nightmare,a service would and should do the trick

Could be the engine coolant temp sensor playing up, l would start there as they are cheap and easy to replace.
The crank sensor on these are prone to problems also.

try taking out the coils and give them a clean up they might not be earthing right on the engine due to the build up of gunge. hope this helps

l had the same problem they told me it was the engine management system ?
It is o.k. now. (it cost me £175)

hi,it could be that the throttle cable has stretched or needs adjusting,try this,when starting the car in the mornings depress the throttle half way down then try and start it ,if it starts ok then the problem is a stretched throttle cable.

Re the non-start first time - get ur battery tested. This time of year u will be surprised how quickly a battery dies due to the cold. The last two secondhand cars I've bought required new batteries as soon as the first really cold snap appeared.

Re the stalling - if this is anything like the problem l recently had it could be due to a faulty Lambda Sensor. This sensor is responsible for telling the cars ECU what mix of fuel & air is required. Cheap enough fix at £70 ish & it is a doddle to fit it yourself if ur handy with a spanner. However, stalling problems could be due to all manner of things; faulty/dirty injectors, fuel filters, EGR valves..the list could go on.

You might want to get a diagnostics check from ur local Renault 'st'ealer or a good independant garage to point u in the right direction though.

it sounds like the crank angle sensor is the cause of the problem. They suffer with connection problems, and there is now a modified sensor and connector available from renault.
