Hi there, l have a Renault Clio Alize 1.4 16v T Reg 1999 Manual car. My car starts perfectly in the cold mornings but when l get to the end of my road it looses power as if l have stalled. l have to start the engine again but rev it at the same time.

My dad decided to see if he could alter the idialling revs but he had no luck. So he altered the throttle cable and now for some reason when l come to a junction or stop the car, the revs drop and the car feels like its going to stall but then the revs/needle slowly creep back up when at a stand still.

Please could you give me some advice.

l am not an expert but l had a problem like that before and it was the automatic choke playing up (-:

It sounds to me like a fault idle control valve or leaking inlet manifold gasket. Fuel is controlled by the ecu on most cars now, so it is all electrical and any faults should be made obvious by an engine warning light on the dash. It could also be the air mass meter / air flow meter. They are all things that are relatively easy to replace but may be a little costly for the part. They do not make cars like they used to..if something breaks nowadays, it is gota be replaced.
