Hi, l have a T-Reg Renault Clio 1.4 RT it has central locking but to use it l have to be very close to the car and sometimes need to press the key many times before the doors and boot eventually unlock.
Im guessing its the battery that may need changing but l was also told it could be that the key is out of sync with the car and l may need to pay to get it re-coded. Can anyone tell me which of these will most likely be the problem?

Also i've been told that if l do change the battery it may reset the key which will then need re-coding is this true?

hi , l had a simular problem and l just changed my battery .i personally never had a problem with it needing to be recoded .

If it works at all , change the battery - nothing to do with coding thats for new keys.

New battery will fix the problem without any problems

Check recent issues of the BBC programme Watchdog and then you will not bother fixing it, just sell it and get a decent car before it kills you. (Clio is have a faulty bonnet release which means that the bonnet can open when driving at speed)

battery is my first guess, & has for been close u have to be close anyway has the key needs to be pointed at a sensor near the interior light it works of infrared the batterys possibly causing the poor response & if the key still works after a few pressess its not in need of resync. if it need coding it wouldnt work at all despite how many times u press it so its probabl;y best to get a battery in the fob before it does need re coding , when the battery dies after a certain lengh of time the fob will lose memory & will need resyncing
