Hi, l am looking to buy an Renault Megane but it has a dodgy automatic gearbox (the clutch slips).So l Imagine it is going to need a new box.
l am guessing that these are like rocking horse £$!.So l am thinking that l might be able to slip in a manual box in it is place.

Is this possible or not. If so would it be a big job?

yep ita big job not for the novice check the fluid level in the box allthough they do not have a clutch but a torque converter which is a large doughnut that gradually fills will oil as it spins

l would not recommend such a heavy modification. Beside, you might have problems with insurance.
Better sell it and get a manual gearbox car.
It is a big job since you need to modify the engine, install a complete clutch system including a new pedal etc.

leave the car alone and find one that works, putting a manual box in you would also have to put a pedal box and the gear lever etc, not a 5 minute job.
