Yes afraid so !!

As with most modern engines if the timing belt snaps then its going to cause damage to the valves and unless you can fix it your self its going to be a couple of hundred £s

Yes 100%.
You should always check after how many years the cam belt needs replacing as failure to replace it can cause serious damage to the engine.
Some cars needs cam belt replace every 4 years and others after 6/8 years.

l had the same happen on a 1995 astra diesel the car was not worth fixing if you can get it done on the cheap then it my be worth it but it depends what the car is worth to you it will damage the top end of the engine

Usually a broken Cam belt can totally knacker an engine, with resulting damage including (but not limited to) one of the pistons smashing into one or more valves, bending them.. do not expect much change out of £1000 fixing it, as it takes a few days to do if rebuilding the engine (got to let it cool, drain it, scrape off the old gaskets, degrease the cylinder head, remove the damaged valves, put new ones in + grind them, then put everything back together with new gaskets).

You might be lucky. It depends what was happening when the belt broke,
Were you travelling at the time? At high speed?

Definitely , you might even need a new engine.

pop to the salvage people, and find a rear ended clio, you could probably buy the whole car for less than the price of a rebuild!

It all depends if you have bent any of the valves. It can sometimes be OK. An old girlfriend of mines' cam belt went & the car was fine, l know someone else who bent a few valves & it was an expensive affair.

You may be better off getting a reconditioned engine or even one from a scrap yard & change it yourself.

Bottom line is you will need a mechanic to look & let you know

basically a typical engine with a broken cam belt or timing belt should not produce a great loss to the engine, meaning the valves will not bang with or touches the piston heads. only the belt should give up.

It is very rare for it not to do damage my guess is u will have damaged most of the valves . could be very pricy the valves r only abou $10 - £15 pounds each but the price wiuld be having them put in. Your best bet would find a breakers take some with u who knows how to take a head off another clio of same model because or the head bolts have to be taken off in sequence or u can knacker the head buy a new head gaskit & belt & fit it onto yours might work out cheaper than a garage it has for me .if u do get a secondhand head check all the valves r moving i.e. opening & closeing properly.good luck hope this might save u a few pounds .

yes if a cambelt snaps when your driving it will bend your valves from where the pistons have smashed into them

Almost certainly you have bent the valves, proberly wo not need a new head or engine but need to get it checked out properly at a dealer. Will cost around the £1000 mark to have the valves replaced at a main dealer.
