Do you know anyone with a Renault 16? l am told there is only 50 left in the UK, but do you know of any that are still around?

not sure l have not seen one for a while, but they were one of my fathers favourites l learnt to drive in a 16TX nice motor shame there nearly all gone. You should try looking on eBay France might find them there.

l happen to see a 16 from time to time .
In the past l owned a few of them .
The TX has 5 gears and a 1647cc engine.
The TL has 4 gears and 1564cc engine.
Their torsion bars made them very comfortable
l still own Renault these days they are safer and full of electronics.

l doubt there is even that many left in on the road. They were great cars, my dad had 4 of them, including one of the last TXs registered in 1979. Like most French cars of that era, they were mechanically indestructible, but suffered badly from rust in the cills and the rear suspension. Wonderful ride quality and nearly 110mph from the TX made it quite a quick car by mid 70s standards.

l owned a TX when l lived in Belgium in the early 70's, it was one of the most economical and comfortable cars l have ever owned. What memories. There is one for sale at the moment on classiccarsforsale.co.uk It is a Spanish model though. Other good sites are motorbase.com. and forum.r16site.com. But sorry l do not know anyone that has one now.

Hav,nt seen one in a while,not even the car shows but we had a R16TS That was quick The one fault that was what u might call hairy,was the throttle cable ran next to the pull up handbrake,and because of the LHD toRHD very occasionally got caught on full throttle[ race boy head ] very ooh Also marking the bulkhead to drill a hole to allow the starter motor bolt to be removed Happy days l had a dauphine an R4 with the tent type seats cheapo & a normal R4 A R12 & a R12 Estate The TS was metalic green Stay lucky
