l ran out of diesel and have since filled the car. But now it will not start at all.

it will need priming. READ THE MANUAL.

If a diesel engine runs out of fuel the system has to be bled, refer to your user manual for instructions or speak to your mechanic.

l am afraid you are going to have to bleed and prime the entire fuel system. It might be time to buy yourself a haynes manual, or call out the AA to sort it for you!

You will need to crack open the nuts on the 4 pipes at the top of the injectors and turn the engine over until the diesel spurts out and then tighten them up again to expel any air in the system.
Only tools required are a 17mm spanner.

Hi, first off, DO NOT CRACK OFF any pipes on the fuel system!!! The system is under approx 400 bar of pressure on cranking, that is more than enough to cause serious injury to anyone in the way!
You will need to keep cranking the engine over, it will eventually bleed itself. Best of luck.

have some one tow it when you are in gear moving after a while the fuel will start coming trough but at first you may find that every time you press your clutch in to stop it will cut out just keep doing it for a few Min is and it will be fine. l ran out of diesel in my saxo and had jump leads on it four a bout a hour before towing it after about 2 miles it was running fine
