l have a 1999 Renault Clio with a 1.2 8v engine. l was just wondering if an MK3 1.2 16v Clio engine would fit straight in and if anyone knows the price at which it would cost to be fitted

l dont think engine changed much

you may need to change your fuel set up off your original engine, as these might be mated to your ECU panel for car

Renaults do crazy stuff like that

Best go to a independant french car repair specialist in your area and ask a price . he might have a like for like engine in stock ?

do a search on ebay and do some research ?
search google for clio forums ??

it would not just fit straight in ! The engine wiring looms are different for a start as the engine ecu is on the back of the inlet manifold on the 16 valve engine. If you want more power then the best route would be to get your 8 valve clio is ecu chipped, otherwise just buy a 16v clio !

JD, changing a 1.2 8v for a 1.2 16v is probably one of the greatest wastes of money l have ever hear of. what do u think u r gaining from it? there is nothing between them in the real world. if u r gonna do an engine transplant, do a 172/182 or a VAG 1.8T conversion.

i have assumed u r doing for more power. if its becasue u need a new engine because the 8v is nakered, then yeh, its not that big a deal.

ps: the mk2 & mk3 1.2 16v engines r the same.
