renault laguna is it good car and is it got dodgy gearbox?

l bought one because my son recommended it. l have never had a scrap of bother with mine (it is an Alise 1.8) and it sails through the MOT. Good fuel consumption too, about 40mpg.

But, tee hee, my son is gearbox did pack up. It was a nut which came off and totally immobilised him. Cost about £250 to fix.

A decent size car, good on safety and equipment.

Is an ok car, Laguna is do not have alot of gearbox problems.. l should no, l work on the workshop counter at a Renault dealer. If your buying a new one, even better! Looks good, comfort, top safety and MPG. Thats what you should be interested in and with a new one you do not have to worry about what brakes anyway. Thats what warranty is for..

No it does not have a dodgey gearbox but is a very good car.

Avoid the 4-speed auto.

i've got won and l have problems getting it into first gear, and i've just started to get a groaning noise. watch out for the heater fan only blowing on number 4 as this is a common problem and you nee to get a new resistor to fix it. about £85 pounds
