Pure curiosity, but anyone know how many miles a renault clio 1.2 will do when petrol light comes on

roughly ten at 30mph

no offense but im American never been anywhere near a renault

dont think it matters size of engine.all manufacturers l think give u around 5 quid of petrol from when light goes on .so u might know roughly ur petrol consumption..work it out from there

about 20-30mls but dont take a chance When your petrols low it sucks up all the muck in your tank As soon as my car hits the red line l fill her up

How far a 1.2 Clio (or any car) can go on 5 litres varies depending on road and traffic conditions, speed, driving style and even the weather - could be as much as 70 miles, or as little as 25 miles.

Those things are notoriously inaccurate, they can go on travelling up hill and go off going downhill and they react to the fuel swilling around in the tank. It is said that there is probably about a gallon left, but that can be wildly unreliable. Besides, when the fuel gets low you're in danger of picking up all sorts of crud from the bottom of the tank.

Anyone who gives you pedantic figure is simply guessing.

Depends how and where it is being driven. The light usually comes on with about 7-10 litres in the tank in a Clio, so if you're poodling along a country road at 50mph, it might go 100 miles before it coughs and splutters to a halt.

The light comes on with around 1 gallon/ 5 litres of petrol remaining.

The mileage which can be done depends on many aspects - in general the condition of the car, type of road, and how the car is being driven.

As many others have said on here, 30 miles is probably achieveable but best not to leave it any longer.
