I have a renault traffic camper van,the battery light has come on,the van is running fine,what does this mean

It means you own a Renault.

it could be the alternator is faulty and is not charging the battery so the bettery is fine for now but will run flat soon

It means there is a problem with the charging system you should get it looked at you may be driving on Battery power alone...Not good

the car will run without the battery once it is started the altenator charges the battery when running at if this fails to give the corrct voltage to charge the battery it brings on the battery light,

It could be something simple like a broken belt, or more expensive like a faulty alternator. Either way, you're on borrowed time and need to get it checked asap. Take your mobile for the drive to the mechanic, just in case.

It usually indicates ur alternator is not charging the battery, check all the connections to the battery & alternator r tight & clean, & the fan belt is tight, any slack in the fan belt will also cause the vehicle not to charge. if the camper is a diesel then its gonna cost u a good few quid trust me!. ur local car spares shop usually do an alternator test for free if u ask nicely. Always worth checking Ebay for prices as often saves u a fortune as l found out. All the best

when you drive to the garage, do not use lights or heater or anything electrical, that way it will get you there to have the alternator replaced
