Symptoms: At times the fuel guage is on RED, even though l have just filled up. Hard to start most mornings. Cuts out spasmodically - when fuel guage is on RED.
l would like to understand how: My car loses acceleration (as if it has run out of fuel) on the M4; wo not restart; RAC unable to restart or over-ride but a diagnostic computer finds that it is due to a a faulty fuel sensor which is in the petrol tank which is telling the car it is out of petrol although it is 75% full. RAC man tried to start car (fuel guage now registers 75% full tank). Had to be towed to Bristol.2 hours after breakdown, we tried the engine - just to see - and whoopee, it started. 5 miles later, the fuel guage drops to RED, 100 miles later (luckily at Services), no acceleration, no restart.Another 1.5 hours later, back on the road. Risky l know, but we got 82 miles to home, despite the fuel guage recording RED.£88.13 later, my local dealer claim there is no fault. Can anyone explain to me how this can be

very good chance its the t.d.c (top dead centre) sensor on the top of gearbox they play up all the time & the fault will not show on the renault clip computer. that would cause to start & loss of power whilst driving. new sensor is about £ 20.00 ish they say u should have new lead ( another £20.00 ish )as well as plug on old loom is different & would fit new sensor as its modfied but it will fit if u take the edge of plug on loom off as it pushes in to sensor (hard to explain but if u look at the two sensors u should see )
