It only has 18k miles full service history and the weather is currently cold.Im not sure if it is smoke or steam but it happens when engine is at normal temp.Car runs fine am l worrying over nothing?

it could be nothing or it could be a blown head gasket.. If it is a head gasket problem u would find that ur oil has turned a milky white & it would pour white smoke & u might see a reduction in power.. If the head gasket is just cracked & the antifreeze is just beginning to leak into the cyclinders then u might not see the oil turn white & just maybe only a little white smoke. It might be nothing at all but it is worth checking it our because if u drive a car too long with a blown head gasket u can blow the motor. get it checked . good luck

NO , thats definantly something to worry about. l dont know what type of test u could do as a compression check couldnt be done under the load but it sounds to me as u may have a small crack in ur head gasket, & under load it is forcing water from the cooling jackets through that small crack . Add a gas dryer to ur gas , sometimes it will condensate (the gas tank ) & u will get alittle smoke ,or u buy gas that comes just as the stations tanks r getting low , but if the dryer dont help ask a service person if there is a way of checking it under load, Some tune up shops have places to put ur car atop of spinning wheels as to do an under load check for doing tune ups.

You r worrying over a leaky head gasket which will soon fail entirely chancing a burned up engine, or a crack in the block that is only leaking under higher pressure/vibration.

Have some one rev the engine while u stand by & observe---90% chance its steam. It will dissipate into air rapidly, have slight odor (if any) of engine coolant. Radiator check will show it low on fluid, as coolant thus evaporates
overheating starts. If u get major steam then u will have to stop every couple of blocks of travel to refill radiator till u get to where u can get it checked/repaired/towed.

Engine temp will be at least slightly higher than normal at this beginning stage of failure.

It might also be some other leak but coolant is entering combustion chamber so ur r losing power, compression, fuel is being diluted, so before long it wo not move fast if at all.

Driving it in that condition is a certain way to destroy the engine which may already be injured. Check any warranty it ought to be covered so ASAP get it to dealer b4 time runs out.
