I've had my car 19 months since it had it lasts service.In this time I've done around 20,000 miles.Recently, the SERV and ABS light came on.These warning lights do not come on as soon as l turn on the car - only when I am going at around 50-70mph.

The car performs fine, and it passed its MOT in January first time.However, sometimes when I am braking at slow speeds (i.e. approaching a junction or roundabout) there is a noise when l brake - sounds like the brakes are slipping and not being effective - yet it only happens when breaking at slow speeds.

The car is getting serviced tomorrow - but do you think what I've described sounds serious?

It went for its service today.Everything seems well - they could not see anything obvious.I've to take it back on Monday to be hooked to the computer.They said it is probably a broken ABS sensor.

The car still does the spinning thing when braking... with a new ABS sensor fix this?

Sounds like one of the abs targets on the front has broken ! They crack due to corrosion on the drive shaft, which forms between the target and the drive shaft. This then causes the abs sensor to see a 'bigger' gap in the targets at low speeds, the noise you can hear is the abs operating, because it can see what it thinks is a difference in wheel speeds. If you are lucky you maybe able to buy the abs sensor separately from the drive shaft.
