As l said l got an ABS warning on my Clio. l took it to a dealer and they said the sensor mounted on the end of the drive shaft has broken off and is therefore reporting a fault. Unfortunately they cannot replace the sensor without replacing the entire drive shaft, which will cost over ₤300. Since the drive shaft is fine this seems a bit extreme so I’d be grateful for any potential suggestions. Thanks.

take it to Renault and let them run a full diagnostic test, parts are to expensive to play guessing games!!! or see if you can get a second hand unit. good luck

, l have had the same problem, you can do it your self, there is a electric connector on the drive shaft housing just put it back on, they get to come loose, at times.

do not go to dealer.
Talking crap, go to local independent garage or look for non dealer specialist, do not tell them what dealer told you, just say the abs light is on ond you believe sensor needs replacing and see what sort of prices you get.
Sensors are usually mounted on the hub and the pick up lugs are moulded into disks or drive shaft/cv joint.
Would not use that dealer.

This sounds like a load of rubbish. If as you say it has become disonnected l am sure with a bit of thought you will be able to sort it out. Just needs a bit of time and effort to save mega bucks.
