while driving car lost power and came to halt would not start all lights etc was still working only 23000 miles done on it and it is 6years old

it is the radiator mate. Take the cap of, stick a hose down it and flush it. 10 points

If it slowed down to an eventual halt as opposed to stopping abruptly with a bang or immediate cut out,it sounds like lack of fuel so (without stating obvious about fuel in tank) l would check the fuel pump/fuel line.

Similar thing happened to me. It could be a leak somnewhere in the car which has lead to the electrics becoming wet or damp causing them to fail.

Not the end of the world and fairly inexpensive to fix, but still a bastard when it happens.

any fuel in the tank? otherwise could be lack of spark ie: faulty coil, distributor. maybe fuel blockage.

A couple of things to check, is there fuel in tank.
l take it the battery is OK so does the engine turn over. If not it could be seized which would indicate that either you had no oil in engine or the radiator was empty and the engine seized. Clio is are well known for their ignition problems and unfortunately in this day and age requires an electronic test on system to pin point the fault.

l would say its the cat,my mates done the same with low miles and l think they only have a life span of 4 to 5 years,and do not forget the timing belt needs changed every 4 years do not go by just the mileage it needs done by ;)
