hi there im hoping someone can help me
i have ben trying for a few weeks now to
remove the timing belt on my car 1994 renault cleo
and have had no luck at it is there something l need to
know or do to take the cover of the side to actually get to
the belt as im pulling my hair out (if l had some l would do)

as far as l can see its just held in with allen bolts but l must be mistaken
as l have tried every one of the allen'keys l have and none will budge it.

also there is no helpfull info in the haynes manual

please help a desperate man here thanks........

its not my first time doing the timing on
a car and never had any probs in the past
its just getting in to the case on thin car
its first l have had problems with

i have hex keys also forgot to add that
just cant seem to get the little bugger to move.

leave it to a professional . if you get it wrong, putting on a new one , you can wreck your engine - big bucks !

l think the allen keys are your problem, it is more likely they are '' Torx'' bolts, you can buy a set of ''male Torx'' adaptors from Halfords to fit 3/8 drive socket set.

misses has a cleo 94 and she took hers to the garage to get timing belt and pre mot check up done, best leave it to those who no or you could make it worse.

could be torx bolts but as you said you cant budge them im presuming youve had something in there and applied pressure.make sure what they are before going any further ,look at the head with a mirror to identify.Once youve got the correct tool make sure the heads are cleaned out before inserting the tool.Apply maintanence spray and try tightening slightly before undoing them.This normally works l hope you havnt damaged the head or youve got problems.Good luck.
