l have a Renault Clio 2002. Every now and then it wont start first time. It tries to start but wont fire up. The problem seems to be getting more regular. It was happening maybe once a month but now its almost every day, usually after the second time Ive stopped it and trying to start it again. Sometimes I am stuck for up to an hour and other times only 5 minutes.
l have took it to the garage and they put it on the computer but cant seem to find the exact fault.
Has anyone had this problem or know what it could be?

could be one of many things try cleaning injectors, checking alternator, glow plugs, fuel switch..

Did you take it to a Renault dealer? If so try a different Renault dealer as they can vary like any garage. Starting problems when the engine is hot is often a fuel supply fault.
Your best bet is a Renault dealer as they as so used to the cars that they have a head start over other garages.

they call this a intermittent fault! been there got the t/shirt. My problems with my lugana started the same way and just kept getting worse. turned out to be immobiliser fault. hope l am wrong for your sake. talk to Renault before take car in ,and ask for full diagnostics to be done and how much it will cost and what will they do if the problem does not show up.

there is a common problem with crankshaft sensor it has been modified

The fault is usually with the Top Dead Centre (TDC) sensor or crankshaft sensor. Renault have now made a modified sensor and connector. But get a Renault dealer to confirm the fault, it usually stores in the injection computer memory if you use Renault diagnostic code readers.

its a faze pulley its dose the timing in the engine the problem only gets worse the longer it goes on .. onto take Renault if you find someone else to do it as its very costly you are looking at a bill in excess of £600 sorry for the bad news l only no because ares has just bin fixed for the same problem.... it started with refusing to start then got a lumpy tick over then every time got in just would take ages to get it to start .. then it started to stall and loosing power .
