daft question but have you tried taking your key back out the ignition,blipping the button while your behind the wheel,locking and then unlocking the central locking then trying to start it again !!!
These french cars have an immobilisor system that can be a proper pain in the arse.
My spare key for my 306 will turn the ignition on but wo not start it,needs chipped,

Does the car turn over? If it does'nt, its probably your battery. Try connecting a set of jump leads and see if the car will turn over then.
If it does turn over and wont start, it could be a number of things. The 1st thing l would try is get your spare key and try and start it with that as the chip in the key can play up a bit. The battery in the key could be knackered or the actual key code itself could be wrong.
