Front or back ?
Front the shock absorber is in the machpereson strut so it is a bit of a job and you wheel need some good spring clamps
Rear if it is like most renaults will be quite easy.
They can fail an MOT if they are leaking or if they are not damping properly. This is checked by the examiner bouncing the car
