back and forward, and this happens through every gear,any idea why this is, it has juat passed a mot, also the clucth is hard as **** to push down, can l adjust it as l beleive its a cable one,, thanks

Most older Renault is have a certain amount of play in the gear stick through all gears, its not a problem and doesn`t affect the gear change or the car, and unless you are looking for it probably wouldn`t notice it.

However, it sounds like your car may have worn gear linkage bushes as it seems the play in yours may be a bit excessive as it has caused concern.
