I am thinking of buying a clio 172 or a 182 has anyone owned one , are they as fast as they say they are ,do they handle a well as they say they do ,whats fuel consumption like when not raging it ,and what would you suggest the 172 or the 182 as on paper theres not much in it 138 to139 mphand l think 7,2 0 to 60 compaired with 7.1 .and also would a cup version be a better buy for me ,I am not a boy racer but l like my fast cars .

Edit: To numpty below. l have a Jaguar 'S' Type R. 4.2 litre supercharged giving 400bhp. It not the fastest car on the road but it leaves Subaru is behind so it would absolutely mince ur poxy Renault. So it is back to the hutch for u my boy.

Edit 2: My Jag would take on any poxy Renault on any type of road & suck into the air intake & spit it out the back before the burk driving it could wind up the Renault is elastic band.

the model l would choose would be the 182 with both cup packs. models coming up for 5 years old will need belts done soon (timing belt etc). if u preffer 'luxuries' like air con, xenon lights dont get a cup. they dont have such items to save on weight.

on a normal run u will regularly see over 35mpg, & up to 40mpg when not ragged.

they r an excellent handling car, & can punch well above their weight when it comes to having a blast with other cars.

It is a good wee car, but watch for signs of misuse & crash damage. A lot of people who buy these things only find out they're NOT Michael Schumacher when they've left a Clio-shaped hole in the scenery!

.And Wadda.if u do actually have a real S typeR Jag & not just a poster of one on ur bedroom wall, u will no doubt be aware that while it will eventually pull away from a Clio 182 on a motorway, if u took one on down a tight twisty road, u would not even see which way the Clio went! lol!

l got a 182 in December last year (had a Clio 1.2 before). l fell in love with it immediately. l do not have the Cup version, just the normal one, but l still consider it a good buy.

It will pull away from most cars on the road, & handling on fast corners is great, although one of the front wheels does tend to lift off the ground if you're going too fast.

MPG for me is around 34, but its increasing all the time as I've stopped ragging it around now. Sure its not as fast as a Jaguar 4.0 litre supercharged -insert random capitalised letters here-, but that is not the point of it.
